Muse

I think that what Lisa Hannigan does with music and book is amazing.

And, paper as well.

And, just because this is a music post, I have to include Falling Slowly from Once.

I have a 'soundtrack' for my middle grade novel. When I hit play on my playlist and put on my headphones, I am immediately taken into my novel. This saves me precious time of having to 'get into the mood' to write. It works for me.

What inspires you? What gets those creative juices running?

  1. I adore the soundtrack for Once. I found the music before the movie, oddly enough, and just had to see it!

    Music definitely inspires me!

  2. Casey-- I have to use something to carve out my writing time. Music works, and even if I don't feel like writing, if I put on the playlist, I get the thinking done.

I also run to it, and bring notecards and jot down my ideas. That has jump started my writing on more than one occasion. Literal movement. It evens out the fact that most of the time, I am with my kids, not writing.

That being said, I tore apart my manuscript today. It's going to need a lot of work before it's back together. But, happy work, since I know that it is getting closer to what I imagine it could be.

  4. I'm addicted to the soundtrack of Once. It may not be healthy. And I actually haven't seen the movie. Time to update my netflix queue.

Erica--your post today got my fingers itching for my crochet hook. Must resist. Must not pick up hook until manuscript is revised.
