Right now, I feel like this about my revision. Like I'm driving behind a slow moving, wild, pregnant horse*. How are you doing? What are your goals for the week?
I might not be posting again this week, since I'm going on another mini vacation. Here's hoping the horse gets out of the way!!
*How do you like my Assateague picture? Very cool place to visit.
Know how you feel. But forward movement, however slow, is progress (I keep telling myself). Enjoy your mini holiday!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, that cracked me up! And I know how you feel... that's how I feel about everything in my life right now. Haha, so hard to get back into the swing of things!
ReplyDeleteI left my laptop home, but took all my crit group notes with me last weekend when we finally got away for a short vacation. Finished re-reading Catching Fire instead.
ReplyDeleteYeah. It's taking a lot of time. And it's requiring more recharge time. But I think it's just st that point where it requires more concentration and attention to detail.
Love the horsey butt.
Where did you even find that picture?? That was brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI think our deadline setting is clogging your mind. I am wondering if there's a way to set a deadline without the measurement of time.
ReplyDeleteWe need Tina to weigh in on this.
I bug you about revisions for two reasons. 1. I cannot wait for you to feel the validation of getting an agent and 2. I love your book so much I want it to be out there in the world and in the hands of all kinds of readers inspired by the same story. Your story. Star and Lucky's story.
You're not alone in that feeling. But any movement is good. And it's best not to submit too early. At least that's what I tell myself.
ReplyDeleteHave a great mini-vacation!
ReplyDeleteI feel like this too!
ReplyDeleteI often feel like this, but then have to remember that even when you're not writing, you are.
ReplyDeleteAssateague is an awesome place to visit! Love the picture!
ReplyDeleteThe name of the large, slow-moving pregnant horse I'm driving behind is The 2010-2011 School Year.
Have a great vaca! The writing is happening right there in you subconscious. The subC. What a cool friend.
ReplyDeleteI love Assateague:) I love counting the horses when I'm there. One time I was in the ocean and a horse came up to my blanket and started getting into my beach bag, where there was food. It's awesome, though, being on the beach with the horses. They could, however, leave their droppings elsewhere. YUCK! (Smiles)
ReplyDeleteoh yeah. been there. worked through that.
ReplyDeletei recommend putting the revisions down for a few days (unless you're on a tight deadline). give yourself permission to not even think about it for those days -- not even to worry about how painful the process is being. just step away from the computer.
dream of horses at the seaside.
then go back, hopefully refreshed and with a better outlook.
(or keep dreaming of horses at the seaside for a bit longer. the writing will still be there when you get back)

My revisions feel very slow right now. But hopefully will speed up once school starts! Have fun on your mini vac.
ReplyDeleteYou're in the land of Misty! Happy vacation. Don't worry, you'll be back to that revision soon.
ReplyDeleteNothing, nothing, nothing happening writing wise because I read all three Hunger Games books last week and then started back to teaching. I *am* teaching writing, so at least I'm thinking about the subject. Hope that counts!
Hi Heather -- I've got a blog award for you at my blog--but you've got to claim it at mine!
